When we say basil, you’ll probably think of Bella Italia and pesto. But also, basil also tastes great in a glass of water. The origin of the plant is in South Asia. In the 16th century, the green herb was brought to Europe from India and Persia. The name basil can be traced back to ancient Greek, where ‘basileus’ meant king. This is reflected in the alternative name king’s herb. Basil imparts a tarragon and aniseed-like flavor, making it the ideal match for fruits and spices.

Heavenly rosemary.
